The SPS' 04 congress will try to show the way proteomics might go in the next few years, bringing basic technical developments to the clinical applications in the field of preventive medicine, early diagnosis and therapeutic control of major diseases. New technologies related to classical proteomics will be presented.

Presentations will cover areas such as:

  • Proteomics for diagnosis
  • Proteomics for prevention
  • Disease profiling
  • Profiling strategies
  • Metabolic proteomics
  • Alternative techniques such as high throughput protein crystallization
  • Data integration and standardization.

Presentations by an international panel of speakers will address these and other important issues, in order to give a clear picture of the current status and future directions of proteomics research in health-related academic and industrial environments.

The congress will take place from 6 to 8 December 2004 in Bern, a city located in the heart of Switzerland. Hosted by the University of Bern and the Inselspital, SPS ‘04 aims to act as catalyser for the exchange of proteomics expertise between researchers of divers interests, backgrounds, and origins.
